The Evolution of Jeep

Back in the early 1940’s, there were extended invitations from the Army Quartermaster Corps seeking a design of a multi-purpose light command and reconnaissance vehicle that would compete with the Nazi Panzer Division’s motorcycle and sidecar. This vehicle needed to be able to handle all types of weather conditions while being extremely durable, it also had to have the capability of mounting a large machine gun to the vehicle.

There were three major companies that got the invitation to submit plans for a rugged military vehicle with four-wheel drive. The Corps invited Willy’s, Bantam, and Ford to ensure sufficient technological input and production capability. All three companies were given the contract to produce the Jeep, though Bantam produced the original prototype that was closest to the Army’s specifications.

Nowadays Jeep is no longer an official military vehicle, thankfully enough they still hold true to their military association 75 years down the road. The Jeep still remains a car associated with endurance, excellence, honor, and great maneuvering. Over the years the Jeep line has split into several different models and trims. The Jeep Wrangler has the closest resemblance to the World War II Willys MB being a new age descendant. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is the modern day Jeep SUV and has been equipped with comfort making this SUV qualified for adventure.
With other models like the Patriot and the new Cherokee to fill in the gaps, Jeep is still the best SUV brand on the market in America. With great resale value, great engineering and durability the Jeep name rings bells in America. Not just the liberty bell but the bell of excellence! There is nothing quite like a Jeep. Once you drive one you will see why.
